Approach:
In therapy, I use a range of approaches depending on the needs of my clients. One of the core methods I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients recognize and challenge distorted or unhelpful thoughts. Together, we work to replace those thoughts with healthier, more constructive ones. CBT also focuses on developing practical skills that can help clients manage anxiety, depression, and stress more effectively in their day-to-day lives.
For clients who experience intense emotions, such as those with borderline personality disorder, I often use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This approach combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. It helps clients not only accept their emotions but also work on changing harmful behaviors. The goal is to find a balance between acceptance and change, allowing clients to live more fulfilling, stable lives.
In some cases, I use techniques drawn from psychodynamic therapy, which focuses on exploring unresolved unconscious conflicts. These conflicts are often rooted in early life experiences, and they can influence present behavior and relationships. By gaining insight into how their past affects their current emotions and actions, clients can begin to understand themselves on a deeper level and make positive changes in their lives. Each of these approaches offers valuable tools for addressing a range of emotional and behavioral challenges, and I tailor them to best meet the unique needs of each client.
