Meet Robert L. Scott III
Credentials and Education:
Robert has completed an advanced-level field practicum earning a Master of Social Work degree from Governors State University. Robert has over 15 years of collective experience in social services and holds a master’s degree from Erikson Institute, a graduate school for the study of child development. Robert has studied to understand the intricacies of both human and child development and uses this knowledge to support the achievement of optimal mental health
Approach:
Robert uses a trauma-informed approach and believes that mindfulness helps develop resilience to overcome obstacles. Robert extends a person-centered approach to therapy and promotes healthy boundaries and bonding patterns to help clients maintain and cultivate healthy relationships. Robert feels that a motivational approach is usually best.

Robert welcomes the opportunity to work with any person of any age and is committed to supporting the individuals, children, and families of Illinois through the promotion of optimal mental health.
Issues Addressed:
Robert is committed to helping the people he works with strengthen their sense of self-awareness to aid in the facilitation of healthy and supportive interpersonal relationships.
Types of Therapy Used:
Robert utilizes several forms of therapy including motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, family systems therapy, and play therapy. Robert also integrates other therapeutic interventions such as breathing techniques and positive affirmations.
