Meet Brittany Portillo
Credentials and Education:
Ms. Brittany has earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Governor State University (2022), Ms. Brittany has obtained a Child Welfare License (2020) and holds Family-Centered, Trauma-Informed, and Strength-Based certifications through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Ms. Brittany has earned her Master of Social Work from Governor’s State University(2024).
Approach:
Ms. Brittany practices therapy by providing a safe platform for her clients to feel comfortable discussing critical moments of their lives. It is about the clients need therefore, she aims to remove blocks that are keeping clients from being their best self. Ms. Brittany’s overall goals as a clinician is to structurally help guide her clients to their full potential and to observe the development of each client’s growth.
Target Population:
Children, adolescents, young adults, couples and Families of all backgrounds.
Issues Addressed:
Ms. Brittany serves clients by helping them get through and overcome feelings of depression, anxiety, encourages ways to deal with their addiction problems, manage their grief and learn positive ways to be more intimate and connected to self and relationships. Her passion is bringing healing to those who have been through traumatic/stressful experience(s).
Types of Therapy Used:
Ms. Brittany utilizes a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Holistic approaches, solution-focused therapy, Christian Counseling, stress management, increasing self- worth and self-confidence, inner child work, incorporation of meditation, mind/body connection, anxiety reduction, empowerment and work/life balance.
