Meet Heather Gilbert
Education and Credentials:
Heather holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Virginia (2000) and a Master's of Education in Clinical Mental Health and Addictions Counseling from William & Mary in Virginia (2016). She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois (180.013803).
Approach:
Heather feels that change is always possible and that everyone has the ability to make changes with a little support and encouragement. Heather feels that her clients' inner strengths are a valuable resource and facilitates clients identifying and utilizing those strengths while gently challenging any barriers that may impede progress.
Target Population:
Heather has worked in a variety of settings helping teens, adults and senior adults address challenges in their lives. Her work also includes couple's counseling.
Issues Addressed:
Heather is experienced in working with addiction in both residential and outpatient treatment settings. She also attends to people who are facing challenges due to their circumstances; anxiety, depression, and personality disorders; and relationship issues.
Therapy Type:
Heather uses a wide range of therapeutic modalities, frequently utilizing Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Strengths-Based techniques. Heather offers both virtual and in-person counseling sessions.
