Undergraduate Internship
Interns at the undergraduate level will be working in our Community Adult Day Program for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Your role is to assist participants with ADLs and provide support and encouragement as they learn new skills and become a successful member of society. Many activities include arts and crafts, cooking, and community outings. The participants spend their day making items to be sold at local craft fairs. The hours for the program is M-F from 9:00am – 3:00pm and an occasional weekend to attend the craft fairs.
Foundation Level Master Internship
First level interns will be the first line of communication with potential clients/referrals for our counseling center with the responsibility of completing the intake. Interns will also develop their interviewing and assessment skills with the responsibility of completing the IM+CANS assessment for Medicaid recipient clients. First level interns have the opportunity to be remote, however, if the productivity is not up to the task supervisor's standards it may be required that the internship be completed in person.
Advanced Level Master Internship
Second level intern students will be assigned a caseload between 5-10 clients to provide clinical services. Some of the services that will be practiced include clinical case management, client centered consultation, integrated assessment and treatment planning, and individual, family, and group therapy. Interns will have the opportunity to develop their documentation skills through completing assessments and progress notes following the requirements of Rule 140 for the State of Illinois. Students are paid $25 per session. Advanced level interns must be available in person at least 5 hours a week to accommodate our high demand of in person sessions. These hours could be evening (3pm-8pm) during the week or on the weekend.
